ARTISANAL CHEESE MAKING

Our little village is home to one of Romania’s most important producers of artisanal cheese: “Manufactura de Brânză”. Cows raised by the Hungarian Varga family graze on the hills surrounding Cund where they feed on grass and wild spices – making the milk they produce fabulous! Inspired by this excellent milk, young cheese-maker Istvan Varga set about making quality cheese, using Swiss methods. Our guests can even take part in the production process, between 10 and 12.30, and learn all about how the milk is transformed into delicious cheese. During the workshop, you will be able to sample some of the ripened cheeses from Istvan’s cellar, and receive a small gift to take home – a memento of your morning enjoying sustainable rural tourism at its finest!

  • Price: EUR 25 per person (min 2, max 6)
  • Duration: Two and a half hours
  • Includes: workshop, tasting and small gift

ARCHERY - BOWS AND ARROWS

Want to release your inner Robin Hood? Step into our special workshop next to the wood workshop, dedicated to the building of bows. Take your time to craft your bow over the course of a few days, or – if time doesn’t allow – use one we prepared earlier! You can also fashion your own arrows – and then try out your creations! We have a small indoor shooting range above the workshop and one at the back of Valea Verde.

Please note that making your own bow and arrows requires prior reservation, but you’re welcome to practice archery in the Valea Verde garden at your leisure! And... fire!

WOODWORK

For 25 years, we at Valea Verde have dedicated ourselves to preserving traditional local craftsmanship, as part of our mission to support sustainable rural tourism. So why not try your hand at it? Both our young and not so young guests are welcome to spend time in our carpenters’ workshop and make their own pieces with the help of our trained and qualified staff. An introduction to the art of traditional craftsmanship has many benefits. Apart from being an enjoyable pastime in itself, it also improves your dexterity, serves as an introduction to wood handling, and brings about patience and respect for your creation. What better souvenir to help you remember your visit to Valea Verde?
